Women may come across many different health issues regarding menstruation, pregnancy, female cancers and so on in their lifetime. Amenorrhea: Absence of periods for more than 3 months is considered to be amenorrhea. Problems in ovaries, uterus, hypothalamus and pituitary gland may be some causes of amenorrhea in women.

Cervical dysplasia (irregular cells in the lining of the cervix): Abnormal lining or changes on the surface of the cervix is known as cervical dysplasia. Depending on what extent the problem is, if the changes are not treated then it can be quite likely to lead to cancer in the future.

Endometriosis: If the endometrium(tissue that lines the womb) grows outside the uterus then it is called endometriosis. This can affect the ovaries, bowel and fallopian tubes.

Menopause: The end of the menstrual cycle in a woman’s life is known as menopause. Hot flushes, pains, headaches, irritability, tiredness, difficult sleeping are some symptoms of menopause.

Menstrual/Period cycle disturbances: Menstrual disturbances are very common in the life of a woman’s menstrual life cycle. Absent periods, heavy flow, light flow, irregular bleeding, painful periods are some disturbances that may be experienced during the menstrual cycle.

Dysmenorrhea: Painful periods are known as dysmenorrhea. Pain in the abdomen, hips, thighs, lower back and the feeling of pressure in the abdomen are some symptoms of dysmenorrhea.

Polycystic ovaries: A condition where the ovaries may be bigger than normal containing many small and immature follicles. Irregular menstrual cycles, amenorrhea, excessive hair growth, mood changes and acne are some symptoms of polycystic ovaries.

Premenstrual symptoms: PMS is a range of emotional and physical symptoms experienced by many women around the time of menstruation. Bloating, acne, food cravings, migraines, mood changes are some of the premenstrual symptoms.

Uterine fibroids: Small growths often found in the womb are known as uterine fibroids. They may show symptoms of heavy/painful periods, abdominal discomfort, bloating, back pain, interruptions with bowel motions and may cause infertility.
