As one of the most common chronic infectious disease, the global average infection rate of H. pylori has exceeded 50%.

What Is H.pylori?

H. pylori is the only known microbial species that can survive in the human stomach. It will adhere to the gastric mucosa and the gap between the cells in the stomach.

Then as time goes by, inflammation will form, which is what we call chronic gastritis.

If not been treated in time, it may lead to digestive tract ulcers and gastric atrophy, and the risk of gastric cancer will also increase greatly.

According to clinical data, people of all ages are likely to be infected with H. pylori, which has high infectivity and the characteristic of family cluster. Daily use of public tableware, kissing, etc. may make you get infected.

Symptoms:

  • Abdominal pain: it usually occurs when you have an empty stomach.

  • Belching, bloating, bad breath, nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.

It is important to know that some people infected with Helicobacter pylori may not show any symptoms.

But no matter you have symptoms or not, once get infected, the H. pylori will not disappear by itself, so medical treatment must be taken.

13C-
Urea Breath Test

The 13C-urea breath test (UBT) is internationally recognized as an effective method for detecting Helicobacter pylori.

Before the test, you should keep an empty stomach, and then take a 13C urea capsule orally. If H. pylori is existed in your stomach, it will decompose urease and hydrolyze urea.

After the urea is hydrolyzed, the carbon dioxide produces and enters the lungs with blood circulation, if there is marked
13C in your exhaled gas, it means that H. pylori exists.

This detection method is simple and convenient, requiring no gastroscopy or blood drawing. It is almost non-radioactive, suitable for anyone including children and pregnant women.
